Mission
To protect and enhance the quality of life in Lexington through a comprehensive program of services directed toward public education, prevention and control in areas of fire, rescue, hazardous materials incidents and disasters.
Coverage is provided out of one station staffed 24 hours a day and supplemented by part-time and reserve personnel. The department is staffed with 35 personnel that are crossed trained in fire protection and emergency medical services as either an emergency medical technician or paramedic. Fire protection ratings are ISO class 5 within the city and class 9 in the rural area.
